Sleep deprivation and shift work are bad for you

A recent article in the Lancet suggests that we put ourselves at risk with disordered sleep patterns and then compound that if this sleep pattern is also linked to shift work. The risk of hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular disease is raised by 100% in some studies. A large follow up study from China suggested even a history of shift work can increase risk by 10-20%.
