Dr Malik: LBC Radio 12.08.2014

Dr Malik was on LBC Radio with Nick Ferrari on 12th August 2014. Work at Imperial College has suggested gene therapy may help heart failure patients. There have been many false starts in this exciting fields. Genes can be used to:

  1. Grow new blood vessels
  2. Make heart muscle work better
  3. Grow new heart muscle

Small studies often show that scientists can make it work in small animals, even a few human patients, but lets wait to see if large studies show that patients actually LIVE LONGER when given these new treatments.
